Putting shoes on the Pony

We needed to get this car back on the ground because we couldn’t reach the roof to do the body work, and I got tired of standing on a bucket, so we painted all the suspension parts and installed them. Up front the car features dropped spindles from Fatman Fabrications and a one inch lower coil spring.
Because we want this car to perform as good as it looks, all urethane bushings were used. Disk brakes are a necessity for stopping this wild horse … and we got them at all four corners.
Out back we used the stock leaf springs with a 2″ lowering block, to compliment the lowered front, to give the car a hunkered down look that says, “Yeah … I’m bad.”
You low down …
This C10 is going to be down in the weeds. Don’t believe me? Let’s ask a Dr. for a second opinion. Dr. Pepper that is.
By the way, you may have noticed the engine is in. That engine is a brute, a built 350 making in excess of 400 horsepower, so this truck is going to have a lot of Go along with its show.
What a grind

A truck this nice can’t have just any old suspension. The rear axle is treated to a nice coat of paint to freshen it up before being installed along with the new air suspension. The stock front suspension will be replaced with a modern coil over shock setup that will dramatically improve the ride and drive-ability of the truck.
The bottom two photos show the new mounting points for the front suspension and how the welds have been ground smooth and filled with body filler. After the frame is painted these attachment points will appear to be part of the frame, not pieces welded on.
My metal fabricator, who welded up the frame and suspension mounting points for me, is one of the best guys around … and it shows in the quality of his work.
