For the ones who did not make it out to the Hot Rod Expo, you missed a great show! There were over 180 automobiles there from mild to wild. We had 4 cars there that we painted including a 1950 Chevy truck that received best of show in its class. The owner was extremely proud and very excited. And rightly so! That is a pretty major accomplishment. Congratulations Vernon !!
Today we had a block party at the shop. As you can see from the pictures, Chase and Chris are blocking away on the police car. blocking is a process that ensures that the body is as flat and straight as possible. A block is a tool that is flat and semi rigid that you stick a piece of sandpaper to. As you work it over the panels the block smooths out the high places and shows you where the low places are. After they blocked the entire car we started the body work. We used body filler to fill in the low places. The body filler is the yellowish looking places on the panels. Tomorrow we plan on finishing up the body work and prepping it for yet another few coats of primer. So yes, tomorrow there will be another block party!! BYOB. (Bring your own block)
