Dirty work

IMG_1766 IMG_1767 IMG_1768 IMG_1685 IMG_1686 IMG_1689 IMG_1690 IMG_1692 IMG_1693This Camaro got a good rub down today. We were able to block the roof, both the quarters, back window panel, and rear body panel. Blocking means that we use a flat hard rubber type tool, wrapped in 80 grit sand paper. This tool is then used to sand the panel in a back and forth motion at 45 degree angles. Phew, did you get all that?  This process is done to ensure that the panels are flat and straight as possible. Where it cant straighten the panel out, like where a dent is, then filler is used to level out the metal. Then, the filler is blocked using the same process as above. Once this process is done with 80 grit, its done again with 180 grit. Lots of blocking will be done over the next few days. We will then prime the panels again. Lots of work, but well worth it when you see the finish product.
