Daggummit

IMG_2088 IMG_2089 IMG_2090 IMG_2091 IMG_2092 IMG_2093I hate it when I forget to get a finished picture of a car we have been working on. This BMW bumper was painted yesterday and was built and delivered today and I didnt get a picture of it done. Oh well, its finished and it looked great! Here you see Chase and I getting it ready for paint. You must remove any and all contaminates from the part before its painted. If not, you run a risk of something wonky happening. Once that was done, a full coat of white sealer, then several coats of white, followed by several coats of pearl then clear.  Its a bummer that I didnt get a completed picture but sometimes running a business gets in the way. Ill try to do better next time.

Prepping for stripes

IMG_2100 IMG_2099 IMG_2098 IMG_2097While Chase was priming the parts for the Chevelle, Chris and I were prepping the Camaro parts for the racing stripes that will painted tomorrow. Chase also painted the trunk spoiler today so we can stripe that too. We have to sand these parts so that the paint for the stripes will stick as well as the clear. I will go more in depth on that tomorrow. Laying out these strips will be a bit time consuming. Much longer than the time it actually takes to paint them. It  will all be worth it though, they will look awesome when they are finished. Much better than Chris does in that picture. Yeah, we have fun here.

One last time

IMG_2096 IMG_2095 IMG_2094Today we took some time to put the final coat of primer on the doors and fenders that were blocked out earlier this week. This is a urethane primer that provides a finer, smoother surface than the slick sand. This primer sands and finishes off much slicker which makes for a great surface to paint over. Like I said, this is the final coat of primer on these parts. The next time they get sanded, it will be to paint them.
