Time to lay down the stripes for the Camaro. We started by getting everything clean and a fresh roll of 1/4″ fine line tape. This tape leaves very sharp crisp lines and is very easy to work with. The cowl was the first to get stripes. This gave us the starting points for the hood. From there we used factory dimensions as a guide and stayed very close to that for the rest of them. Laying down stripes isnt hard work, but it is tedious and time consuming. As you can see, no stencils were used here. These were all done by hand. Once they were all taped up, Chase applied 4 coats of white. We then went to lunch while that dried. When we got back, we untapped the paper and fine line, then cleared them. Since we don want to feel these stripes when the car is polished and washed, 4 coats of clear was applied. Once these are wet sanded and buffed, no lines will be felt. Extra work and extra material but this is what a “High Performance Finish” is all about here at JMC.
