White Knight

IMG_2291 IMG_2292 IMG_2293We were also able to get the Altima from painted today. I wish we could have gotten more pictures of it in the booth during the painting process but when you get busy pictures are sometimes forgotten. Anyway, we did get a shot of it with the sealer on it. Following this step several coats of white followed by 3-4 coats of pearl were applied. Chase then shot 2 coats of urethane clear to protect that color and make it shine. The last shot is outside the booth drying and waiting to get put back together.

Finished it up

Out dang dent!

IMG_2284 IMG_2285 IMG_2286 IMG_2287 IMG_2288 IMG_2294 IMG_2296 IMG_2297This little Z4 got into a scuffle with a shopping cart. I guess you could sat the cart won. It left a pretty nice dent in the fender right on the body line in the fender. I used a stud welder to weld studs to the fender and used a special puller seen in the pictures to pull the dent out. Once the metal was pulled out, we ground the studs off and applied body filler. Once that was blocked out, it was primed. Once the primer was dry, we blocked it out and taped up the adjacent panels so we didnt scuff them when we scotch brite the rest of the fender. Next step was to put the Bimmer in the booth and get it taped up. This keeps over spray from getting on the parts we dont want to paint. Chase then went to work laying down a coat of urethane sealer, a few coats of Transilber (the color used on this car) followed by 2 coats of clear. Tomorrow we will get it out of the booth, put the emblem back on the fender and get it cleaned up for the customer.
