Today was spent the day setting up the bed panels for primer. The first part of the morning was spent meticulously cleaning the bare metal that we sanded yesterday. Extra care must be taken when priming bare metal. The metal must be completely clean and as dust free as possible. Once that was ready, we applied a coat of PPG’s DPLV epoxy primer. This stuff loves bare metal. It bites into it like I do cake. That product requires a set up time, so we waited the proper flash time before priming. The lighter grey product is a urethane primer that is used to provide building properties. It gives us something to sand, which in turn it allows us to make sure the surface is as flat as possible. We will start those steps next week.
